Lafayette beats Navy 72-54, snaps 11-game skid

EASTON, Pa. (AP) Joey Ptasinski scored 22 points, hitting all six of his 3-point shots, as Lafayette beat Navy 72-54 on Saturday to snap an 11-game losing streak.

Lafayette (5-16, 1-9 Patriot League) shot 57.5 percent from the field and made all 18 of its free throws but used defense to pull away from Navy (7-14, 2-8) in the second half.

Navy scored just two points during a 12-minute stretch in the second half, which included a span of more than 6 minutes without a single point. The Midshipmen scored just 20 second-half points, 8 of which came in the game's final 2 1/2 minutes.

Dan Trist added 17 points for Lafayette and Nick Lindner had 13 as the Leopards picked up their first win since Dec. 17.

Worth Smith had 15 points for Navy, which shot just 34 percent from the field and lost its fifth straight.
