NEW YORK (AP) St. John's guard Rysheed Jordan has left school to pursue professional opportunities.

The 6-foot-4 Jordan averaged 14.1 points in 31 games last season, his second with the Red Storm.

''Playing professional basketball has always been a goal of mine,'' Jordan said Friday. ''I believe I am ready to take the next step in my basketball career and plan to work hard to achieve my dream of playing in the NBA.''

He missed the deadline to enter the NBA draft this summer.
