Glenn Powell had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Jacksonville never trailed in defeating Savannah State 64-54 on Tuesday night.

The Dolphins (1-1) bounced back after a sluggish second half Friday night that cost them a potential upset win over Miami.

Powell was 6 of 8 from the field and hit 4 of 6 free throws. Ayron Hardy added 14 points and seven assists for Jacksonville.

The Dolphins jumped out to an 8-0 lead and led 29-12 with 6:19 to go.

The Tigers (1-2) closed out the half on a 14-5 run - including two 3-pointers from Keierre Richards and one from Jovonni Shuler - to trail 34-26 at halftime.

Jacksonville led by as many as 18 with 15:29 to go, but Savannah State pulled within eight points at 61-53 with 1:17 left. The Dolphins then hit 3 of 4 free throws to seal the win.

Richards led Savannah State with 17 points and Shuler had 13.
