Jackson scores 25, Southern Miss beats South Alabama 57-54

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) Kourtlin Jackson scored a career-high 25 points, Eddie Davis III made a go-ahead jumper with 39 seconds left and Southern Miss beat South Alabama 57-54 Monday night for its sixth straight victory in the series.

After Davis' make, Don MuepoKelly missed a shot for South Alabama and Davis was fouled. He missed the first free throw with 11.4 seconds to go, but made the second. Nick Stover and Ken Williams both missed 3-pointers in the final seconds.

Jackson, a transfer from Iowa State, made six 3-pointers and grabbed seven rebounds. His previous scoring high was 15 against Troy earlier this month.

Davis finished with 11 points for Southern Miss (2-6), which hit 10 3-pointers.

Barrington Stevens made six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 20 points for South Alabama (3-6), which led by as many as nine early in the second half. Williams added 14 points.
