Jackie Carmichael scored 22 points as Illinois State defeated South Dakota 81-63 in a Global Sports Roundball Classic game on Friday night.

The next three leading scorers for the Redbirds (3-1) were off the bench: Austin Hill with 16 points, Blake Mishler 12 and Tony Lewis 10.

Charlie Westbrook had 18 points and Jordan Boots 10 for the Coyotes (1-3).

Carmichael scored six straight points to highlight a 21-7 run during a seven-minute span that gave Illinois State a 68-45 lead with 9:51 remaining.
