Idaho gets past Grand Canyon 83-77

MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) Stephen Madison scored 34 points and Idaho avenged a loss to Grand Canyon earlier this season with an 83-77 win Saturday.

Idaho (12-16, 5-8 Western Athletic Conference) opened the second half on a 7-0 run after leading 34-32 at half.

The Vandals pushed the lead to 16 points, before Grand Canyon (13-12, 8-4) closed the gap. The Antelopes came within 78-73 with 1:04 remaining, but Idaho made 5 of 8 free throws in the final minute to preserve the win.

Madison was 12 of 15 from the field and 9 of 10 at the free-throw line. Sekou Wiggs added 16 points and Glen Dean had 10.

Jerome Garrison led Grand Canyon with 26 points. Daniel Alexander added a career-high 22 points. Killian Larson had 14 points and 20 rebounds.

Idaho evened its all-time record against the Antelopes at 1-1, after falling at Grand Canyon 86-73 in January.
