Iati, Albany top South Carolina State 70-61

Jacob Iati scored 21 points as Albany won its sixth straight game, beating South Carolina State 70-61 Wednesday night for a nonconference victory.

The win was Albany's second against the Bulldogs (4-6) this season after the Great Danes (9-2) took an 83-55 decision Nov. 20.

Iati was 7-of-13 shooting from 3-point range, setting a career high for attempts and tying his career best for makes. Mike Black backed the effort with 18 points, hitting 8 of 9 from the free-throw line.

Albany's six-game winning streak is the program's longest since the 2006-07 team won eight in a row.

The Bulldogs scored first and led until Iati hit a 3-pointer to put Albany up 34-33 with 18:13 left in the second half.

Peter Hooley's 3-pointer with 11:05 left sparked a 12-5 run to put Albany up 53-47. Iati's 3 and Black's two foul shots iced the victory in the final minute.
