WASHINGTON (AP) James Daniel III scored 14 points and Howard topped lower-division Hood College 78-51 on Sunday.

Daniel made 5 of 11 from the floor, including 4 of 9 from beyond the arc, to pace the Bison (2-3). Howard shot 45 percent for the game, including 7 of 26 (27 percent) on 3-pointers. Solomon Mangham added 11 points and nine rebounds and Damon Collins chipped in with 10 points. Keon Hill had seven helpers and six points.

Howard dominated in the paint, outscoring Division III member Hood 48-10 and outrebounding the undermanned Blazers 54-28.

Hood was led by Chris Cook with 14 points, who hit four 3-pointers. Terrell Buyck added 12 points, Tanner Ruths had 11 and Damien Hamler scored 10 points.

The Bison scored the first 13 points of the game and ran up a 46-17 halftime lead before emptying the bench in the second half.
