Houston G L.J. Rose may not return until conference play

Published Nov. 3, 2015 8:55 p.m. ET

Houston guard L.J. Rose suffered a foot injury in January, which ended his 2014-15 season. That same injury will reportedly give Rose a delayed start for this season.

Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson told Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports on Tuesday that Rose may not return to the team until the start of American Athletic Conference play, which for the Cougars, begins on Dec. 30 against South Florida.

That means Rose will miss non-conference games at Rhode Island, the Atlantic 10 favorite, LSU, ranked No. 21 in the preseason AP poll, and another talented Murray State team.

The 6-foot-3 Rose averaged 9.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
