Hot-shooting Jacksonville beats SC-Upstate 89-70
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) Marcel White nearly doubled his career-best, scoring 30 points to help Jacksonville come from behind and snap South Carolina-Upstate's six-game winning streak with an 89-70 victory on Saturday.
White, whose previous career-high was 16 points against Florida A&M last season, hit four 3-pointers and finished 10 of 13 from the floor. Marcellous Bell added a career-best 20 points and three others reached double figures for Jacksonville (8-19, 2-8 Atlantic Sun), which had its highest point total of the season. Antwon Clayton grabbed 11 boards for the Dolphins.
Upstate led 42-32 at the break, and stretched it to 57-43 with 13:53 to play. The Dolphins answered with a 25-3 run and cruised from there.
Ty Greene scored 23 points to lead South Carolina-Upstate (19-8, 6-4), which shot just 23 of 62 from the floor (37 percent), and 25 percent from long range.
