Hot-shooting E Kentucky tops Jacksonville St 86-65

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) Tarius Johnson scored 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting and Glenn Cosey had 15 points as Eastern Kentucky handled Jacksonville State 86-65 Saturday night.

The Colonels (18-9, 8-5 Ohio Valley) were a scorching 64.6 percent from the field, hit 11 3-pointers and went 13 of 14 from the foul line. Orlando Williams had 14 points and Corey Walden chipped in 12.

Jacksonville State (10-18, 4-9) was 5 of 17 beyond the arc and committed 18 turnovers. Darion Rackley finished with 19 points and four steals, but was the only Gamecock to score in double figures.

Eastern Kentucky nursed a 19-16 lead in the first half, but pulled ahead as Johnson and Isaac McGlone each hit 3-pointers to spark a 10-2 run and coast to a 10-point halftime lead. Another 10-2 surge fueled by two 3-pointers from Williams pushed the score to 64-43 with 9:01 remaining in the second half.
