Hot-shooting Denver beats Nebraska-Omaha 88-74

DENVER (AP) Brett Olson and Nate Engesser each scored 19 points to lead hot-shooting Denver in an 88-74 victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday.

Engesser shot 7 of 8 from the floor and finished with six assists. The Pioneers (10-13, 4-6 Summit) combined to shoot 69 percent overall, and 8 of 16 from distance. Cam Griffin scored 18 points and Jalen Love added 16.

Denver led 42-26 at the break and went on an 11-2 run to open the second half and take a 25-point lead with 17:13 left to play. Omaha cut the difference to 13 points on a 14-3 run, and a 3 from Marcus Tyus made it a 10-point game with 5:01 left on the clock. Denver answered with seven straight points to hold on to its double-digit lead.

CJ Carter finished with 20 points and Tyus scored 19 for the Mavericks (8-15, 2-9), who combined for just six assists.
