R.J. Evans scored 31 points and teamed with Andrew Beinert to lead a decisive second half run as Holy Cross defeated Bucknell, 75-56, on Wednesday in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League tournament. The second seed, Holy Cross (17-13) will host Colgate in the semifinals on Sunday. Patrick Behan scored 15 to lead Bucknell (7-23). There were three ties and two lead changes through late in the first half. But Evans, a freshman guard, and Colin Cunningham each converted a 3-pointer for a 30-23 lead. After two free throws by Bucknell's G.W. Boon, Beinert, who had 15 points, scored a jumper at the buzzer to give the Crusaders a 32-25 halftime lead. Beinert converted three consecutive 3-pointers during a 1:34 span in the second half to provide an insurmountable 55-41 advantage.
