Devin Brown's 22 points led Holy Cross to a 71-60 nonconference victory over Sacred Heart on Friday night.

Brown scored 13 in the first half, when the Crusaders (4-6) took a 35-20 lead. The senior guard's layup 9:59 before halftime capped an 18-2 run that put Holy Cross ahead 24-8.

Holy Cross shot 51.7 percent (15 of 29) in the first half to 32.1 percent (9 of 28) by Sacred Heart.

The closest the Pioneers (5-6) came in the second half was nine points, 63-54, on Shane Gibson's layup with 1:34 left. The Crusaders hit 8 of 10 free throws the rest of the way to secure the victory.

R.J. Evans scored 12 points and Justin Burrell had 10 points and six assists for the Crusaders, who had a 19-2 advantage in fast-break points.

Gibson and Justin Swidowski scored 14 points each for Sacred Heart. Swidowski grabbed 11 rebounds.
