Hartford edges past New Hampshire 61-59

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Mark Nwakamma scored a career-high 25 points as Hartford pulled ahead in the second half to defeat New Hampshire 61-59 after a close contest all the way through on Saturday night.

New Hampshire's largest lead in the second half was five points, but Hartford didn't move ahead until Taylor Dyson made a 3-pointer with 6:57 to go. The remaining minutes saw eight lead changes and six ties.

The Wildcats (6-19, 4-8 America East) went the final 2 minutes and 30 seconds scoring just one point, and trailing by two with 11 seconds left, they missed a shot at the buzzer.

Nwakamma, who shot 10 of 19 from the floor, was the only Hawk to score in double digits and led Hartford (13-14, 7-5) with seven rebounds.

Patrick Konan came off the bench to lead New Hampshire with 15 points, and Chris Pelcher and Daniel Dion added 11 each.
