Hart leads Incarnate Word past Abilene Christian 89-75 (Mar 01, 2017)

ABILENE, Texas (AP) Jalin Hart scored 23 points and Sam Burmeister had 16 on 6-for-9 shooting and Incarnate Word shot 62 percent to beat Abilene Christian 89-75 Wednesday.

After Burmeister's layup gave Incarnate Word (12-16, 7-10 Southland) a 50-39 lead with 15:31 remaining, Abilene Christian's B.J. Maxwell scored eight of the Wildcats' next nine points - including a pair of 3s - and the 9-0 run reduced the deficit to two.

Jaren Lewis' layup with 9:15 left brought the Wildcats to within 61-60, but Incarnate Word responded with its own 9-0 run as Hart made a 3 and followed with a layup and Abilene Christian (13-15, 7-10) never threatened again.

Shawn Johnson scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Jorden Kite scored 11 for the Cardinals. Incarnate Word shot 31 for 50 including 9 for 19 from 3-point range.

Hayden Howell led Abilene Christian with 16 points shooting 7 for 10, Maxwell was 6 for 9 with 13 points and Hayden Farquhar scored 12.
