Hart helps Marist hold off Mass-Lowell late, 81-69

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) Khalid Hart hit two free throws and added a 3-point play that allowed Marist to close out University of Massachusetts-Lowell, 81-69 on Tuesday night.

The Red Foxes built a 10-point lead at intermission and pushed it to a 14-point advantage early in the second half. But the River Hawks rallied, closing to within four twice midway through the game. Cameron Wolter hit a pair from the line to get UMass-Lowell within four the final time, 55-51 with 9:39 to play.

Hart hit two free throws to make it 57-51 with 9:22 left, and converted a 3-point play with 8:57 remaining to make it 60-51.

The River Hawks got three late 3-pointers from Matt Harris to stay close, but Marist pulled away down the stretch.

Hart finished with 23 points and Ryan Funk added 20 for Marist (3-4).

Jahad Thomas led UMass-Lowell (2-6) with 23 points and Harris added 14.
