Golden scores 15, No. 22 Gonzaga women beat LMU

Stephanie Golden came off the bench and scored a career high 15 points and No. 22 Gonzaga beat Loyola Marymount 79-61 Thursday night.

Kayla Standish and Haiden Palmer added 14 points apiece as Gonzaga (18-3, 7-1 West Coast Conference) beat the Lions for the ninth straight time. Starter Katelan Redmon picked up two fouls a minute into the game and went to the bench in favor of Golden, who matched her career high with 10 points in the first half.

The Lions (5-15, 1-7), got a career high 24 points from Hazel Ramirez, who averages 9.2 points. Alex Cowling., the WCC leading scorer at 20.8, added 23 despite going 18 minutes without a field goal.

Gonzaga went on a 12-0 run to take a 20-11 lead midway through the first half. Cowling ended the five minute drought with a 3-pointer but the Bulldogs responded with a three-point play from Jazmine Redmon and a 3-pointer from Taelor Karr to go up by a dozen.

It was 42-27 at the half and the lead reached 27 with less than six minutes to play even though LMU made 13 more free throws.
