Georgia St. stops losing skid, beats Arkansas State 69-61

ATLANTA (AP) Jeremy Hollowell and Isaiah Williams combined for 35 points as Georgia State stopped a four-game losing skid, beating Arkansas State 69-61 on Saturday.

Hollowell had 18 points and seven rebounds and Williams finished with 17 points and six assists. Kevin Ware added 13 points for Georgia State (14-11, 7-9 Sun Belt Conference), which had previously lost seven of its last nine games.

Georgia State was trailing 31-28 at the break but Williams and Austin Donaldson hit back-to-back jumpers and Hollowell nailed a trey to start the second half to take a 35-33 lead. The Panthers never trailed again.

Devin Carter led the Red Wolves with 20 points and Anthony Livingston added 17.

Georgia State and Arkansas State (11-16, 7-9) are in a battle to secure one of the top eight spots to get into the conference tournament.

They are tied for sixth with South Alabama behind Georgia Southern (12-13, 8-7).
