Eric Buckner tallied a double-double, scoring 21 points and pulling down 11 rebounds, to lead Georgia State in an 85-50 win over Hofstra in the opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament on Friday night.

Sixth-seeded Georgia State (21-10) advances to a Saturday meeting in the quarterfinals with third-seeded George Mason, which had a first-round tournament bye. James Fields added 14 points and Devonta White 13.

Georgia State, who led by 21 points at halftime, set a tournament record for victory margin. The Panthers led 73-40 with just less than eight minutes to play and by as many as 37 points during the final minutes.

Georgia State outrebounded Hofstra 35-23 and outscored the Pride 48-18 in the paint. The Panthers also scored 23 points off 15 Pride turnovers.

The Panthers' 21 wins are the second-most team history.

Mike Moore led 11th-seeded Hofstra (10-22) with 16 points.
