Tony Taylor scored 22 points to lead George Washington over Detroit 86-73 Monday.

Lasan Kromath added 17 points for the Colonials (2-1) and Aaron Ware had 13. Taylor was 4 of 4 from 3-point range for the Colonials, who shot 60 percent (9 of 15) from long range. They were 32 of 58 (55.2 percent) from the floor in the opening game of the Progressive CBE Classic Bowling Green subregional.

Detroit shot just 17.6 percent (3 of 17) from long range and 39.7 percent (27 of 68) overall.

Nick Minnerath laid it in for a 2-0 Detroit lead, but John Kopriva's dunk and layup helped spark a 9-2 run for the Colonials.

They would never trail again, leading by 17 points at the break and winning despite being outscored 45-41 by the Titans in the second half.

Minnerath led the Titans (2-2) with 18 points.
