FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) DeAndre Abram scored 24 points and had seven rebounds to lead George Mason past Longwood 75-70 in the first-ever meeting between the schools.

Marquise Moore chipped in 15 points and Otis Livingston II had 12 for George Mason (5-7).

Moore's layup with 4:25 left gave the Patriots a 66-56 lead with 4:25 to play. But the Lancers' Shaquille Johnson and Khris Lane hit back-to-back jumpers and Johnson threw down a dunk in less than a minute with 2:33 to play.

But Longwood's shots stopped falling and George Mason went 9-for-13 from the free-throw line down the stretch to put the game away.

Longwood managed to outshoot George Mason from the field by a margin of 51.8 percent to 39. However, the Lancers ended up shooting 7 for 17 from the free-throw line.

Shaquille Johnson led Longwood (3-9) with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
