Stefon Johnson had a double-double and Tashan Newsome sank a clutch shot to help Gardner-Webb beat Charleston Southern 80-77 Tuesday night.

Gardner-Webb trailed 77-74 with 1:19 remaining, and Newsome made two free throws 12 seconds later to pull the Runnin' Bulldogs within one.

Saah Nimley than had the first of two Charleston Southern turnovers in the final 31 seconds, helping the Bulldogs (9-9, 4-2 Big South Conference) win their second game in a row.

Newsome hit a jumper, following Nimley's turnover. Tyler Strange then stole the ball from Charleston Southern's Kelvin Martin, and made both his foul shots.
