Jon Moore scored 15 points as Gardner-Webb knocked off Big South Conference leader Coastal Carolina 59-57 on Tuesday night to end the nation's longest winning streak at 22 games.
Desmond Holloway's tying attempt fell short before the buzzer, sending the Chanticleers (24-3, 15-1) to their first loss since an 80-61 defeat to then-No. 20 Georgetown on Nov. 18.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (9-18, 4-11) came in having lost 14 of their past 16 games, including 58-55 to Coastal Carolina on Jan. 22.
There were 14 ties, including 30-30 at halftime, and 12 lead changes. Gardner-Webb pulled ahead for good at 55-52 on Moore's 3 with 3:42 left and made it 57-52 on Stefon Johnson's layup with 3:13 to go.
After the Chanticleers got to 57-56, Moore hit two free throws with 12 seconds left.
Brandon Crawford scored 12 to lead Coastal Carolina, which made no field goals in the final 6:42.
