Freeman has 28, Old Dominion beats Western Kentucky 68-62

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Trey Freeman had his third straight 28-point game, making 13 of 25 from the field, as Old Dominion held off Western Kentucky 68-62 on Thursday night to stop a three-game skid.

Freeman, who tied his career high, also had four rebounds and three steals. Jordan Baker was 4 of 5 from beyond the arc for 12 points, and Aaron Bacote added 12 for Old Dominion (10-9, 3-3 Conference USA), which had won five consecutive games before dropping three straight.

The Monarchs trailed 46-43 midway in the second half, when Freeman hit two jumpers and Baker nailed a trey for a 50-48 lead with 9:36 left. Freeman scored six straight unanswered points for a 59-54 lead with 5:25 left and the Monarchs held on for the victory.

Justin Johnson had 17 points and seven rebounds for Western Kentucky (10-9, 2-4), which has lost four of its last six games.
