Freeman, Dyson lead Austin Peay past Brown 79-58

LAS VEGAS (AP) Chris Freeman scored a career-high 20 points and Ed Dyson added 18 to help Austin Peay beat Brown 79-58 in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational on Thursday.

Khalil Davis scored 10 and grabbed nine rebounds and Chris Horton added eight points and 12 boards for Austin Peay (2-4), which out-rebounded Brown 40-28.

The Governors trailed by five early in the second half before using a 25-2 run to take a 64-46 lead 8:50 remaining.

Brown (1-5) never threatened again.

The Bears shot 55.2 percent (16 of 29) in the first half and took a 38-33 lead into halftime, but made just 7 of 26 (26.9 percent) second-half field goals and committed 21 turnovers.

King led Brown with 20 points and seven rebounds. Cedric Kuakumensah added 15 points in the loss.

Austin Peay made a season-high seven 3-pointers en route to its highest scoring output of the season.

Friday, Austin Peay will play Stephen F. Austin while Brown will take on Prairie View A&M.
