Former college assistant hoop coach shot before fatal crash
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (AP) A former college assistant basketball coach was one of the two men killed in a fatal crash that's being investigated as a double homicide.
The Journal News (http://lohud.us/1QRPGqC ) says 26-year-old Kevin Shaw coached Concordia College during the 2010-2011 season. He left to pursue a master's degree in business.
Police determined that Shaw and the 27-year-old driver, Allashun Clay, had been shot before their BMW convertible flipped and crashed. They say the men appeared to be targeted. Each suffered at least one gunshot wound.
The crash happened Wednesday off the Hutchinson River Parkway in Mount Vernon.
Shaw also coached in 2009 and 2010 for the New York Gauchos, an elite amateur basketball program primarily for New York City players.
