Raymond Taylor scored 15 points and Florida Atlantic defeated South Alabama 65-57 on Thursday night.
The Owls (10-6, 3-0 Sun Belt Conference) scored 24 points off of 16 turnovers in earning their best start in conference play since 2003-04.
Bret Royster and Greg Gantt scored 14 points each for Florida Atlantic, which led 27-17 at halftime. The Owls held South Alabama (7-7, 1-2) to 8-of-29 shooting in the first half.
The Jaguars led 6-3 on an early 3 by Tim Williams before Florida Atlantic responded with 14 straight points. Taylor Raymond's 3-pointer capped the run and put the Owls ahead 17-6 with 8:51 left in the first half.
Williams finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead South Alabama, which was denied its 700th win all time.
DeAndre Hersey added 10 points and Augustine Rubit had 10 rebounds for the Jaguars.
