An affidavit filed in a slander suit against Syracuse University and basketball coach Jim Boeheim says the wife of fired assistant Bernie Fine had sex with players, and several people associated with the program knew about it, including Fine.
In the affidavit, Bobby Davis, a former ball boy with the men's team, says he was present on several occasions with basketball players when he heard them speaking of having sex with Laurie Fine. Davis said players joked about it and it seemed to be an openly known fact that Laurie Fine had sex with basketball players. A lawyer for Laurie Fine said the accusations were ''disgusting.''
The affidavit was filed Monday in New York State Supreme Court by high-profile lawyer Gloria Allred.
''If Laurie Fine was having multiple sexual relationships with basketball players, then the university must explain how this could have been taking place for years right under Coach Boeheim's nose without his being aware of it and without the university's doing anything about it,'' Allred wrote in an email to The Associated Press.
In the affidavit, the New York Post reports that Davis said, "Laurie Fine and another coach's wife used to speak openly about relationships with two of the players and what they like to do in bed."
Davis said in the filing he often drove the two wives to a student housing complex where they'd hook up with two players, identified as "Players 2 and 3" in the court filing, according to the Post.
The Post also reports that the affidavit said during the car ride, "the two women spoke explicity about their sexual exploits with Players 2 and 3. In aperticular, both women would talk about how good the two players were at various sexual acts, and talk about what specific acts each of the men liked," which included oral sex.
According to the Post, the filing said that on an earlier occasion, Davis went with Laurie Fine to a house where several undergrads were living and saw her go into the bedroom of an athlete identified as "Player 1" before he "later saw Player 1 come out fist-pumping the air and bragging about how he had just had sex with Laurie."
Furthermore, the Post reports that the affidavit said Laurie Fine's sexual relationships with players gave her a reputation with the team: "Players used to joke openly about it as a known fact — that Laurie Fine gave (good oral sex) and was great in bed, and that anyone could 'do the coach's wife."
Davis said in the filing that he told Bernie Fine about what his wife's trysts, and he "did not react in the slightest," according to the Post.
Davis and stepbrother Michael Lang are suing Syracuse and basketball coach Jim Boeheim, saying they were defamed when Boeheim called them liars out to make money by accusing Fine of molesting them.
The Post reports that Davis' filing said Boeheim must have known Bernie Fine — a close friend and neighbor of Boeheim's — was having inappropriate relations with ballboys and that his wife was having inappropriate relationships with players.
Davis and Lang claim they were repeatedly forcibly touched by Fine in the 1980s. Fine has not been charged and has denied any wrongdoing.
Syracuse University has said it will comment at an appropriate time.
