Fairfield fends off Siena in a 76-69 win

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) Tyler Nelson and Matija Milin each scored 16 points and Fairfield held off Siena's late rally in a 76-69 win Wednesday night to move into a third-place tie with the Saints in Mid-American Athletic Conference play.

Fairfield (18-11, 12-7) also got 12 points from Marcus Gilbert, Jonathan Kasibabu had 11 points and eight boards and Jerome Segura finished with 10 points.

Kasibabu's dunk with 14:33 to play gave Fairfield its biggest lead of the game at 51-34. But Siena (19-11, 12-7) proceeded to outscore the Stags 27-13 over the next 13 minutes, and Javion Ogunyemi's layup cut the deficit to 64-61 with 1:46 left.

But Milin immediately responded with a 3-point play and Nelson hit two free throws to push the lead to eight with 1:09 remaining.

Ogunyemi scored 17 points and had seven rebounds and Brett Bisping added 16 points, 12 rebounds and three assists for Siena.
