Ex-Michigan star 'Tractor' Traylor dies
Former University of Michigan star and NBA player Robert "Tractor" Traylor was found dead Wednesday at his apartment in Puerto Rico, according to his current team, the Bayamon Cowboys.
The team announced that Wednesday night's game would be canceled in light of the 34-year-old's death.
The cause of death has not yet been identified, but Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia reported a massive heart attack was to blame. Traylor had been missing for three days, according to ESPN.
Traylor, who struggled with his weight throughout his career, underwent a heart operation after his final NBA season in 2005.
The 6-foot-8 power forward earned the nickname "Tractor" as he weighed around 300 pounds (134 kg) during his time at Michigan and in the NBA.
The Detroit native was a McDonald's All-American as a senior in high school, along with future NBA stars Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter and Stephon Marbury.
After a stellar four-year career at Michigan, Traylor was drafted sixth overall in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks, who immediately traded him to Milwaukee for the rights to Dirk Nowitzki.
Traylor went on to play seven seasons in the NBA for four teams. In recent years he had played overseas in Turkey, Italy and Puerto Rico.
