E Illinois rallies to beat W Illinois 78-77 (Dec 19, 2017)

CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) Montell Goodwin scored 23 points, including the game-winning free throws, and Eastern Illinois rallied to beat Western Illinois 78-77 on Tuesday night to end a four-game skid.

The Panthers trailed 68-57 after a 9-3 Leathernecks run capped by Dalan Ancrum's jumper with 7:02 left, but took a 74-73 lead with 1:48 to go after Goodwin's layup capped a 10-2 run. Kobe Webster's layup put Western Illinois back on top 75-74 before De'Angelo Jackson's go-ahead jumper. Goodwin hit two free throws with 24 seconds left.

Ancrum missed a 3-pointer with seven seconds left, but C.J. Duff got the offensive rebound and made a layup with three seconds to go to make it a one-point game. Goodwin missed a free throw and Duff grabbed the rebound as time expired.

Muusa Dama scored 21 points and blocked two shots and Jackson finished with 19 for the Panthers (3-7), who made 19 free throws.

Webster scored 16 with seven assists to lead five Leathernecks (7-3) in double-digit scoring.
