L.C. Doss scored 21 points and Eastern Illinois shot almost 60 percent in defeating Oakland City 83-67 on Wednesday night.

The Panthers (6-2) hit 32 of 54 (59.3 percent) as they won their third in a row and improved to 5-0 at home for the first time in 10 years.

Freshman Josh Piper added 17 points and Jonathan Miller a season-high 15. Doss also had five 3-pointers and five steals.

The Division II Mighty Oaks (4-4) got 22 points from Mitch Stahl and 20 from Maurice Fuller, but no one else scored more than seven. Fuller went 6-for-6 from 3-point distance, and Oakland City was 10-for-15.

Piper scored seven consecutive Eastern Illinois points to provide a 19-17 edge with 9 minutes left in the first half and put the Panthers ahead to stay.

Eastern Illinois shot 76.2 percent (16 of 21) in the first half and led 42-28 at intermission.
