Duquesne University is self-reporting itself to the NCAA for a possible rules violation in which the school sent basketball shoes to a junior college coach who supplies athletic gear to troops in Afghanistan.
The gear was forwarded to Broward Community College coach Bob Starkman, who sends athletic equipment to troops overseas.
While the shoes were intended for soldiers, NCAA rules prohibit a school from sending equipment directly to a junior college coach.
Duquesne athletic director Greg Amodio said the school has submitted a letter to the NCAA outlining the possible secondary rules violation.
