Rayvonte Rice scored 23 points and Drake made 67 percent of its 3-point shots in easily defeating Southern Illinois 65-44 Wednesday night.
Ben Simons scored 15 points and Jordan Clarke had 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (9-14, 4-8 Missouri Valley), who made 16 of their 24 3-point attempts. Rice was 5 for 8 and Simons and Ryan Wedel were each 3 for 4 from long range.
The Salukis led 5-2, but Drake scored the next eight points and never trailed after that. The Bulldogs led 28-21 at halftime. A 14-2 run in the second half put the game out of reach.
Mamadou Seck had 17 points and nine rebounds to lead Southern Illinois (10-13, 4-8). Carlton Fay was the only other Saluki in double figures with 13 points. SIU was 0 for 8 from 3-point range.
