Brian Stafford scored 18 points to lead Denver past Cal State Northridge 66-63 Saturday night.
The Pioneers (2-6) also got 15 points from Chase Hallam and 13 points from Chris Udofia.
Lenny Daniel led the Matadors (2-6) with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Denver made 29 of 46 free throws in a game plagued by numerous fouls. Cal State Northridge went to the free-throw line 38 times, making 23. Five players fouled out - Daniel, Allen Jiles and Dathan Lyles of Cal State Northridge and Stafford and Kyle Lewis of Denver.
