Jawan Carter hit 8 of 14 shots from 3-point range and scored a game-high 24 points to lead Delaware past Howard 66-34 on Friday night.
The Fightin' Blue Hens (1-2) led by as many as 20 points with 18 seconds left in the first half before a 3-pointer from Howard guard David Naves made the score 33-16 at halftime.
Delaware started the second half on a 25-2 run to build its lead to 58-18 with 9:40 left.
The Bison (1-2) shot 12 of 60 (20 percent) from the floor, including 2 for 13 (15.4 percent) from 3-point range.
Mike Phillips led Howard with 16 points and 10 rebounds to register his second career double-double. The only other Howard player to record more than one field goal was Anton Dickerson, who finished with four points.
The Fightin' Blue Hens shot 23 of 56 (41.1 percent) from the field, including 9 for 23 (39.3 percent) from 3-point range.
