Dayton flies past Duquesne 81-55 in A-10 opener

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) Kyle Davis scored 17 points to lead a balanced attack that saw all five Dayton starters score at least 13 points on Saturday in an 81-55 Atlantic 10 opening rout of Duquesne.

Dyshawn Pierre, Jordan Sibert and Scoochie Smith had 16 each for the Flyers (11-2) and Kendall Pollard 13.

After Duquesne tied the game at 17, Dayton went on a 10-0 run featuring three 3-pointers, and raced to a 39-22 lead, scoring the last nine points of the half. The Flyers shot 56 percent in the first half - to 30 percent for the Dukes - and were hotter in the second half, finishing at 61 percent.

Derrick Colter, who leads the nation in 3-point shooting (57.7 percent), was 1 of 4 behind the arc for Duquesne (5-7). Micah Mason, who led the nation last year (56 percent), missed all five of his 3-pointers. Jeremiah Jones had 10 points.
