Davidson turns away Furman 65-50
DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) Tyler Kalinoski scored 14 points and Brian Sullivan added 13 as Davidson topped Furman 65-50 Saturday to take sole possession of first place in the Southern Conference standings.
Davidson (14-11, 10-1) finished the first half on a 10-3 run, which included 3-pointers from Kalinoski and Sullivan, for a 32-23 halftime advantage. The Wildcats maintained a double-digit lead for most of the second half, and took control of the top spot in the standings with Chattanooga's 92-85 overtime loss to Samford.
Tom Droney scored 11 points while Chris Czerapowicz added 10 for Davidson. The Wildcats hit 11 3-pointers, led by Kalinoski who made four.
Stephen Croone led Furman (7-16, 1-9) with 17 points. Adonis Rwabigwi added 10.
Davidson extended its win streak to seven games and has won 10 of its last 11 contests. The win also marked the 100th victory in the series against Furman, which Davidson leads 100-61.
