Davidson hangs on for 110-99 win over Montana

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) Jack Gibbs scored 28 points, dished out eight assists and went 12 of 12 from the free throw line to lead Davidson to a 110-99 win over Montana on Wednesday night.

In a close contest that featured hot shooting from both teams, Davidson (7-1) held off Montana (3-5) at the free throw line, going 34 for 36 overall and a perfect 8 for 8 over the final 1:16 to finally put the score out of reach.

Brian Sullivan contributed 22 points, Tyler Kalinoski added 21, Jordan Barham had 16 and Peyton Aldridge 14 for Davidson, which shot 58.9 percent from the floor.

Montana, which shot 55.9 percent, pulled to within three on a Jordan Gregory 3-pointer that made it 99-96 with 2:01 to go but couldn't overtake Davidson down the stretch.

Martin Breunig led the Grizzles with 30 points and six rebounds, while Gregory finished with 29 points.
