DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) Jack Gibbs scored 31 points on 11-for-23 shooting and Davidson cemented its spot in the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament by knocking off George Washington, 87-80 on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats cemented the No. 6 seed into the conference tournament next week and the loss did not damage the Colonials No. 5 tourney seed, but George Washington, with non-conference wins over Virginia and Seton Hall may have seen its hopes of an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament dashed with the loss.

Gibbs, who leads the conference in scoring, surpassed the 30-poing plateau for the ninth time this season. Senior Brian Sullivan and sophomore Peyton Aldridge scored 19 and 18 points, respectively, for the Wildcats (18-11, 10-8).

Yuta Watanabe and Patricio Garino each scored 22 points to pace the George Washington (22-9, 11-7) offense, and Tyler Cavanaugh contributed 16. But the Colonials got just six points from its bench.
