NORMAL, Ala. (AP) Jeremy Crutcher scored a career-high 27 points and Arthur Capers had 16 as Alabama A&M upended Alabama State 68-65 in overtime Saturday night.

The Bulldogs (10-12, 7-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference) were trailing 52-40 at the midway mark of the second half, but surged back to pull within one with 1:22 remaining. After a Jamel Waters jumper and two Brandon Graham missed free throws, Crutcher was fouled on a layup and sank the free throw to tie it and force overtime.

Crutcher hit a layup in overtime and split a pair of free throws to give Alabama A&M a 66-65 advantage. Waters had two turnovers on the ensuing possessions, and Green Hill nailed two free throws for the final margin. Bobby Brown's 3-pointer at the buzzer couldn't find the net for Alabama State (14-9, 8-4).

Maurice Strong had 17 points with nine rebounds and Waters had 14 points for the Hornets.
