Cox sets rushing record, leads Appalachian St. to 42-17 win

BOONE, N.C. (AP) Marcus Cox rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns to become Appalachian State's all-time leading rusher and lead the Mountaineers to a 42-17 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.

Cox has amassed 4,820 rushing yards in his career, surpassing Kevin Richardson's 4,804 yards (2004-08).

Taylor Lamb also got in the record books, throwing for two touchdowns to give him 61 to become only the second player in school history with 60 or more touchdown tosses. Lamb finished with 208 yards on 14-of-22 passing and rushed for an additional 92 yards on just five carries.

Jalin Moore also had a good night, rushing for 135 yards on 13 carries as Appalachian State had 637 total yards.

The Mountaineers (8-3, 6-1 Sun Belt Conference), were ahead 21-10 at the break and pushed that to 34-10 at the end of the third.

Austin Vaughn led Louisiana-Monroe, rushing for 110 yards.
