Akeem Ellis made two free throws with 1 second remaining and Coppin State defeated Morgan State 88-86 on Saturday.

Morgan State, which led by nine points in the first half, made up an eight-point deficit in the final 2 minutes of the game. The Bears went on a 12-4 run to tie the score 86-86 after a 3-pointer by DeWayne Jackson with 18 seconds remaining.

There were 13 lead changes and 10 ties.

Ellis finished with 21 points while Tony Gallo scored 28, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Eagles (12-11, 7-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Michael Harper and Logan Wiens each added 14 for Coppin State, which has won four of its past five games.

Kevin Thompson had his sixth double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Bears (5-15, 3-6), who have lost three in a row. Jackson added 17 points and Aric Brooks had 14.
