Coastal Carolina defeats UNC Asheville 98-62
Joseph Harris had 24 points and nine rebounds and Coastal Carolina cruised to a 98-62 win over North Carolina-Asheville on Saturday to continue the Chanticleers' best start in school history.
Coastal Carolina used a 22-2 run to break the game open at 36-12 with 6:53 left in the first half en route to a 51-25 halftime lead. The Chanticleers swept the season series, having won 58-57 on Jan. 7.
Coastal Carolina (21-4, 11-2 Big South Conference) has won five of its last six games and remains two games ahead of Winthrop and 2 1/2 ahead of Radford in the conference standings.
Kierre Greenwood added 16 for the Chanticleers.
Chris Stephenson scored 15 to lead the Bulldogs (10-14, 7-6), who have lost two in a row after winning seven straight.
John Williams blocked a Coastal Carolina shot in the first half to become UNC Asheville's all-time career leader with 191 blocks.
