Coastal Carolina 55, High Point 52
Chris Gradnigo scored 19 points as Coastal Carolina repelled a second-half comeback and edged High Point 55-52 on Saturday night.
Sam McLaurin added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Chanticleers (10-3, 3-0 Big South), who ended a two-game skid.
Shay Shine scored 15, Nick Barbour 14 and Corey Law 11 for the Panthers (4-8, 0-2), who shot only 36 percent (17 of 47) and made just 1 of 12 3-pointers.
Coastal Carolina extended a 30-19 halftime lead to 36-21 with 17:14 left.
But then Barbour and Shine scored seven points apiece in a 14-0 outburst that cut it to 36-35 as the Chanticleers went scoreless for 6:28.
Coastal Carolina pushed its advantage to 51-43 with 5:03 to go but had to sweat as the Panthers closed within three twice in the final minute.
The Chanticleers held a 39-26 rebounding edge but shot only 40 percent (19 of 48).
