Citadel beats Chattanooga 110-101 in OT for first SoCon win (Jan 13, 2018)

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Zane Najdawi scored a career-high 37 points, Matt Frierson set career highs with 31 points and nine 3-pointers, and The Citadel rallied to beat Chattanooga 110-101 in overtime on Saturday to win its first Southern Conference game and end a five-game skid.

Frankie Johnson's free throws put the Bulldogs up 99-95 in OT after the Mocs missed three shots. Najdawi made a putback, and Alex Reed and Frierson each hit 3s to make it 107-99 with 44 seconds left. The Mocs missed 8 of 10 from the floor in OT, but closed to 109-101 on Jonathan Bryant II's layup before Johnson iced it with a free throw.

Kaelon Harris scored 14 points, Johnson had eight assists, and the Bulldogs (6-11, 1-4) shot 61.7 percent from the floor and hit 15 3-pointers.

The last time the Bulldogs scored 110 points was against Point, on Dec. 16, 2017.

The Citadel trailed 51-41 at halftime, but led 93-89 before Rodney Chatman tied it with a free throw and Najdawi missed a jumper at the end of regulation.

Makale Foreman scored a career-high 30 points with six 3-pointers, Nat Dixon added 20 points with four 3s, and Chattanooga hit 17 3-pointers. Chatman scored 19 points with eight assists and David Jean-Baptiste added 16 points with a career-high four 3s and seven assists for the Mocs (6-12, 0-5), who have lost five straight.
