Carl Montgomery scored 25 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds to lead Chicago State past Houston Baptist 91-82 on Thursday night.
The Cougars (4-14, 1-1 Great West) led by as many as 21 points late in the game on 52.7 percent shooting from the field.
Antonio Lofton added 20 points, including making 12 of 18 tries from the free throw line, for Chicago State while Jonathon Montgomery scored 10.
Andrew Gonzalez led the Huskies (1-14, 0-1) with 25 points and a career-best nine assists. Jonathan Evans added 17 points for Houston Baptist and Sammy Obetoh scored 10.
The Huskies finished with 42.2 percent shooting from the field.
