Charleston Southern holds off Longwood, 65-64

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) Arlon Harper scored 21 points and Charleston Southern held on for a 65-64 win over Longwood to maintain a share of first place in the Big South Conference.

Charleston Southern (16-9, 10-4) entered Saturday in a three-way tie with Radford and High Point.

Cedrick Bowen dunked with 1:43 left to give Charleston Southern a 63-60 lead and pushed it to a four-point advantage with :13 left with the first of two free throws. Saah Nimley added the second of two free throws for what proved to be the game winner and a 65-61 lead.

Quincy Taylor drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the final margin.

Aaron Wheeler added 13 points for the Buccaneers and Will Saunders and Bowen each contributed 11.

Taylor finished with 30 points to lead Longwood (7-20, 3-11), knocking down 12 of 22 shots from the field and 6 of 12 from beyond the arc.
