Charleston Southern 83, Radford 73
Saah Nimley and Mathiang Muo combined for 43 points as Charleston Southern beat Radford 83-73 on Thursday night in the Big South Conference opener for both teams.
Nimley led all players with 22 points, while Muo chipped in with 21 points, including four 3-pointers and 7 of 9 from the free throw line for Charleston Southern (4-2). Kelvin Martin also added double figures for the Buccaneers with 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
The Buccaneers broke open a back-and-forth contest with an 11-1 run to stretch the margin to double-digits, 70-60, and put the game out of reach.
Radford (4-2) knocked down a season-high 11 of its 22 attempts from 3-point range.
The freshmen backcourt of R.J. Price and Brian Darden paced the Highlanders with season-highs of 15 and 13 points, respectively. The duo combined to hit seven 3-pointers.
The contest featured six ties and 11 lead changes.
